Custom Roofing Machines

Custom Roll Forming Machines for Metal Roofing, Trim & Structural Profiles

CSC Machine builds custom roofing machines and roll formers tooled to your exact panel, trim, or structural profile. Send a drawing or a sample, and we'll quote a machine for your material and gauge range. We verify the profile with you, and once you've signed off, we train you on your machine at our Sunnyside warehouse before it ships.

Every custom build is quoted in writing for your profile.

How a Custom Roll Former Gets Built

From your profile to a running machine in your shop, in six steps.

  1. 01

    Send Us Your Profile

A dimensioned drawing (DXF, DWG, or PDF), a physical sample, or photos of the panel with a tape measure on it, plus your material, gauge range, and coil width.

  2. 02

    Profile Review & Written Quote

We check the profile for formability, required station count, and coil width, then quote the machine, tooling, options, and lead time in writing.

  3. 03

    Tooling & Machine Build

Roll tooling is made for your exact profile and material, and the machine is configured to the agreed spec: shear, controller, un-coiler, and run-out.

  4. 04

    Profile Verified With You

We run your profile on the finished machine and verify with you that it looks right. Nothing moves forward until you sign off on the profile and the finished machine.

  5. 05

    Training at Our Warehouse

Once you’ve signed off, you come out to our warehouse in Sunnyside, Washington and we train you on your machine.

  6. 06

    Your Machine Ships

After training, the machine ships to your shop. Support comes from the same team that trained you.

Roll Tooling: How Your Profile Is Made

The tooling is what makes a roll former custom. A few things decide how a profile is tooled, and they're worth knowing before you request a quote.

Station count follows the profile

Each set of rolls makes a small, controlled bend. Taller ribs, deeper sections, and more bends need more forming stations to avoid oil-canning, edge wave, and cracked paint. That is why a tall standing seam or a deep structural section usually needs a longer machine than a low-rib trim piece.

Tooling is cut for your material

Thickness range, yield strength, and coating all change how steel springs back. Tooling is designed for the gauge range you tell us you will run, so give us the thinnest and thickest material you plan to buy.

Coil width is set by the profile

The flat width of your profile determines the coil width you buy. We confirm it in the quote, and our coil calculators help you price material once you know it.

You approve the formed profile, not just the drawing

Once your profile is running on the finished machine, we verify it with you before anything else happens.

What Does a Custom Roll Forming Machine Cost?

A custom machine is priced from your profile, so we quote every one in writing after we review it. Expect a custom build to cost considerably more than a standard machine: the roll tooling is designed and made for one profile, and the machine is configured around your material and output.

Does a standard machine already make your panel?

If your profile is a common one like R-panel, ag panel, or standing seam, one of our standard machines will cost far less and be ready sooner than a custom build. We'll tell you if that's the case when you send your profile.

How Long Does a Custom Build Take?

Lead time depends on the profile, the tooling, and the options you choose, and it's written into your quote. A complete quote request with a drawing or sample saves the most time.

Matching an Existing Metal Roof Panel Profile

Panels from different manufacturers often share a name like “R-panel” or “PBR” but don't lap together, because the rib geometry differs by fractions of an inch. For repairs, additions, and discontinued panels, the new machine has to match the real panel, not the name. These are the dimensions that matter:

  • Overall coverage width (the width the panel covers once installed)
  • Rib height and the spacing between ribs, center to center
  • Rib top and rib base widths, and the angle of each rib wall
  • Side-lap detail: which edge overlaps, and any purlin-bearing leg or anti-siphon groove
  • Material thickness, measured with calipers, not just the gauge
  • Any stiffening ribs or striations in the flat areas

The most reliable reference is a short, full-width piece of the actual panel. If you can't ship one, send photos of the panel end-on with a tape measure in frame, plus the coverage width and thickness. We'll confirm the profile before anything is built, and once it's running on your machine we verify it with you before it ships.

Custom Roll Former, Standard Machine, or Brake?

Many shops start with a standard machine or a brake. Go custom when you have steady demand for a profile we don't already build, or when matching an existing roof wins you the job.

What We Need to Quote Your Machine

The more of this you send with your first message, the faster and more accurate your quote will be. Don't have it all? Send what you have and we'll fill in the gaps together.

  • Profile: drawing (DXF, DWG, PDF), sample, or clear photos with measurements
  • Material: steel, aluminum, or other, and the coating or paint system
  • Gauge (thickness) range, thinnest to thickest
  • Coil width and maximum coil weight
  • Finished part length range
  • Target production speed or daily output
  • Shear preference: pre-cut, post-cut, or up-cut
  • Available power at your shop (single or three phase)

Custom Roll Former FAQ

What is a custom roofing machine?

A custom roofing machine is a roll former whose tooling is designed for a specific panel or trim profile instead of a standard catalog shape. It turns flat steel or aluminum coil into your exact rib height, rib spacing, and coverage width, so you can produce panels that match an existing building, a regional profile, or your own design.

How much does a custom roll forming machine cost?

Cost depends mostly on the number of forming stations, the tooling, the gauge range, and options like the shear and controller. A custom machine costs considerably more than one of our standard machines because the tooling is designed and made for your profile, so every custom build is quoted in writing after we review it.

How long does it take to build a custom roll former?

Lead time depends on profile complexity, tooling, and options, and we include it in your written quote.

Can you build a machine to match an existing metal roof panel?

Usually, yes. A short, full-width piece of the actual panel is the most reliable way to match rib geometry and coverage, especially for repairs and additions where new panels must lap correctly with an existing roof. A dimensioned drawing or measured photos also work.

What file formats can I send for my profile?

DXF, DWG, and PDF drawings are ideal. Photos of a sample with a tape measure or calipers in frame also work, and a physical sample is best of all for matching an existing panel.

Do I get to see the panel before the machine ships?

Yes. We run your profile on the finished machine and verify with you that it looks right. Once you’ve signed off on the profile and the machine, you come out to our warehouse in Sunnyside, Washington for training, and then it ships.

What gauges and materials can a custom roll former run?

Tooling is designed for the material and gauge range you specify, so tell us the thinnest and thickest material you plan to run, and whether it is painted steel, Galvalume, or aluminum. A machine designed for a narrow range forms that range best.

Can one machine run more than one profile?

Some can. Quick-change designs like our C/Z structural line switch between profiles on one machine. For roofing panels, it is usually more practical to build a dedicated machine per profile. We will tell you which approach fits when we quote.

Can you make new tooling for a machine I already own?

Our custom work is complete roll forming machines rather than standalone tooling for existing machines. If your current machine cannot run the profile you need, we can quote a complete machine for it.

What power does a custom roll former need?

It depends on the machine. Some of our standard equipment runs on single-phase power and some needs three-phase, so tell us what your shop has and we will configure the drive and controls to suit.

Should I buy a custom roll former or keep bending trim on a brake?

A brake is the right tool for short runs and one-off pieces. Once you are making the same profile in volume every week, a roll former produces it continuously from coil with less labor per piece.

Do you provide training on custom machines?

Yes. After you’ve signed off on your finished machine, you come out to our warehouse in Sunnyside, Washington and we train you on it before it ships. Our team supports the machine after delivery.

Have a Profile in Mind?
